The Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX) is the premier access point for managing Asian capital and investment exposure, and an institution that upholds the strictest standards of transparency. SGX’s new office had to encourage collaboration between departments, while also allowing the occasional need for confidentiality.

OXD was engaged by SGX to understand the workplace needs of its staff and to create a more open and collaborative work environment. We were also asked to come up with a strategy for greater public engagement. When designing the new SGX, we interviewed staff and customers to understand their experiences and needs. The key finding is that this traditional institution is undergoing a rapid transformation. This called for entirely new design concepts that facilitated fresh ways of relationship building, working and approaching technology.

Our strategy focuses on SGX as a living and growing gateway and sets the stage for it to house a vibrant convergence of the global marketplace, a diversity of people and cutting-edge data technology. The new story for the workplace experience is centered on building relationships as the key to better collaboration, where colleagues perceive one another as people on whom they can rely.
